The Identity Formation and Social and Identity Capital of Immigrant Girls. This study comprises ethnographic participant research on every day life of immigrant girls in Finland. The field work examines the processes of growing up in a multicultural setting, especially the dilemma of how immigrant girls respond to the dual expectations coming from the home and from society at large. The study focuses on the process of identity formation, the way of benefiting from social and identity capital that the girls are brought up with and the survival strategies offered by their own cultures. The keywords of the study are ethnicity, gender, membership, world view and values.
